Polychaeta Specialist Group

IUCN SSC logo

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species Survival Commission (SSC) Specialist Groups are global networks of volunteer experts, including scientists, researchers, and conservation practitioners. They work together to assess the status of species and support conservation action. As part of the SSC, Specialist Groups provide technical expertise, contribute to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, and help develop strategies and action plans to protect species at risk.

The work of Specialist Groups is guided by the Assess–Plan–Act cycle, the core framework used by the SSC: assessing extinction risk, planning evidence-based conservation strategies, and taking action to protect threatened biodiversity.

Join the Polychaeta Specialist Group

We invite you to join us in forming the Polychaeta Specialist Group and help advance conservation efforts for these important but often overlooked species. The development of this Specialist Group will be supported by the IUCN SSC Marine Invertebrates Red List Authority (MIRLA) and the IUCN SSC Marine Conservation Committee. MIRLA coordinates the assessment of marine invertebrates worldwide and was established by the Red List Unit of the Senckenberg Ocean Species Alliance (SOSA).
