IPC 09 · Portland, Maine (USA) · 2007

Held in Portland, Maine in August 2007, the 9th International Polychaete Conference (IPC 9) welcomed around 170 scientists and students from 30 countries. Over the course of six days, participants shared their work through 70 talks and 115 posters, explored local marine habitats on field trips, and took part in engaging workshops and discussions — from digital illustration to the launch of the Encyclopedia of Life project. A scenic Casco Bay cruise and classic Maine lobster bake added to the conference’s memorable atmosphere. IPC 9 also marked a turning point in IPA governance, introducing the role of Vice President. The conference proceedings, published in Zoosymposia, feature a wide range of peer-reviewed studies and tributes to respected members of the community.
